About Jallianwala Bagh

Jallianwala Bagh is a 7-acre national memorial located in the heart of Amritsar. The Government of India established it in 1951 to commemorate the victims of the April 13, 1919 massacre. On that day, British troops fired approximately 1,650 rounds into a peaceful gathering of unarmed civilians.

Today, you can walk through the original narrow entrance where troops blocked the exit. Inside, you will find Memorial Monuments like the 45-foot Flame of Liberty. Visitors also view Historical Evidence including the Martyr's Well and original bullet-marked walls.

The site underwent a major renovation that was unveiled in 2021. You can now explore informative Indoor Exhibits detailing the tragedy. Entry is free, but you should review Dress Code Tips before arriving.

We booked a Holiday package from this agency. It was fantastic tour and very reasonable price of our six day tour to Chandigarh to Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Amritsar and drop back to Chandigarh. Driver Karan was very good fellow. Our Amritsar day tour was good. They showed us Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Warmemorial and Wagha border retreat ceremony.
